Bey Machmudin Encourages Implementation of “Blockchain” in All Regional Governments
PORTALJABAR, BANDUNG CITY – Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin is encouraging the use of blockchain technology to be implemented in governance in 27 districts and cities.
In addition to strengthening data security, the use of digital technology that uses cryptography will also improve public services.
“This is our initiative for city and district governments in West Java to be more confident in using blockchain technology to support openness, better public services, simplify licensing, and others,” said Bey Machmudin when met after opening the Local Government Blockchain Forum and Festival 2024 at the Pullman Hotel, Bandung City, Wednesday (6/11/2024).
The event was initiated by the West Java Communication and Information Service in collaboration with the Indonesian Blockchain Society.
Not only involving 27 district/city governments in West Java, the event was also attended by representatives of the central government, BUMN, BUMD, industry players, and academics.
The aim is to explore the benefits and potential use of blockchain technology and encourage its implementation as a technological solution, which is able to strengthen data security and increase transparency in governance and public services.
Bey said that blockchain technology can be implemented for all public services such as tax payments, Sapawarga applications, licensing and budget transparency.
“It can be implemented for all services because it is definitely safe, such as pension data, budget transparency, Sapawarga applications, tax payments, and others,” he said.
The implementation of blockchain technology in all governments in West Java is a form of adaptation to digital disruption, especially since West Java is a province that is always at the forefront of digital innovation.
“Don’t be left behind in this technology. West Java must always be at the forefront of digital innovation,” said Bey.
Blockchain technology is not new in Indonesia, but it is different for the government sector.
For this reason, through the Local Government Blockchain Forum and Festival 2024, Bey hopes that policy makers in West Java will understand and immediately implement blockchain in government governance.
“Although blockchain has been around for a long time, it is still relatively new for the government. What is important is that regional heads and echelon II understand the logic first,” he said.
